A radiation oncologist provides medical care and management of patients with cancer and other medical conditions through the conduct and supervision of radiation treatment; and advice on the provision of palliative and other supportive care of patients with cancer. This unit group covers Medical Practitioners not elsewhere classified.

 

It includes Dermatologists, Emergency Medicine Specialists, Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Ophthalmologists, Pathologists, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologists, and Radiation Oncologists. Medical Registrars training in these specialties are included in this unit group.

 

Skill Level

Occupations in the radiation oncologist unit group (Group 2539) have a level of skill commensurate with a bachelor degree or higher qualification, two years hospital-based training, and at least five years specialist study and training (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).

 

Registration or licensing as a radiation oncologistis required in Australia.

  • PTE Academic with a minimum score of 50 (L, R, W), 65 in speaking and 65 overall
