It is possible to obtain an additional 5 points for Skilled Migration purposes for the following visa types:

 

 

5 Point Accreditation

Individuals who gain NAATI accreditation as a translator or interpreter at the Paraprofessional level or above can claim Credentialled Community Language (CCL) points (sometimes referred to as the ‘five bonus points’).

 

 

Common Pathways

There are various pathways to NAATI accreditation.

The two most common for migration purposes are to:

 

  • Attempt a translator or interpreter accreditation test directly with NAATI
  • Complete an approved course in Australia (generally only available for a limited range of languages)

Registration

Registration is done through the NAATI website. After registration you will be provided a unique NAATI number within 7.

Note: it can take up to 6 weeks to assess your application.
